What is RAGBRAI?
The Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa, RAGBRAI, is the world’s OLDEST, LARGEST and LONGEST bike RIDE (it is not a race!). The ride is seven days long and ends on the final Saturday of July. Each year the ride across Iowa takes a different route, providing different towns to host the thousands of riders.
Ragbrai began in 1973 with a few friends and now bike riders from all 50 states and all over the world attend annually. Typically there are between 15,000 – 18,000 riders each year.
Bike enthusiasts come to Iowa to see the beautiful land, friendly people and to experience midwest hospitality.
